Frequently asked questions
How long does it take for acne treatment to work?
Most treatments take several weeks to show improvement, and some take two to three months. Skin often looks a little worse before it gets better with certain medications. We'll guide you through it so you know what's normal.
Do I need to see a dermatologist, or can I use over-the-counter products?
Over-the-counter products can help mild acne. If your acne is persistent, painful, leaving marks or scars, or affecting your confidence, a dermatologist can offer treatments that aren't available without a prescription.
Can acne cause scars or dark spots?
Yes, especially if it's inflamed or picked at. Treating acne early is the best way to reduce the risk of lasting marks. If you already have scarring or dark spots, we can discuss options.
